WESTBROOK (WGME) – A Westbrook-based company is making a difference, with some added incentives for employees, and pets.

IDEXX is a multi-national corporation, that provides products and services for animals of all sizes.

Wednesday, the company partnered with multiple animal shelters on the Midcoast, to kick off its pet adoption program.

The company has agreed to cover the adoption fees for any of its over 2,600 employees who want to adopt a pet, creating a win-win situation for both pets and people.

“Enhancing the health and well-being of pets and people is a big part of what we do at IDEXX, and it’s really gratifying to see that take place here today, and if history proves itself, have some new family members adopted in the process,” Head of Community Relations Pete Dewitt said.

Animal shelter representatives say an event like this is always appreciated.

They say it provides an opportunity to talk about the never ending need for animal adoption, and most importantly, it helps find homes for animals in need of them.
