The Team

The position of Technical Officer, Veterinary Microbiology forms a part of the Agriculture Victoria group and Agriculture Victoria Research branch.

The Agriculture Victoria Research Branch represents DJPR's agricultural research and development function.

The Role

The position will apply knowledge and experience across the Microbiology group and be responsible for conducting a range of molecular-based diagnostic testing methods, including high-throughput sequencing methods.

• Contribute technical knowledge for science capability development
• Identify and apply scientific and technical developments
• Undertake standard processing work and provide guidance to other staff

About You

The technical officer will require excellent theoretical and technical knowledge as well as laboratory experience with strong organisational skills.

• Technical experience in high throughput sequencing methodologies
• Proven ability to independently verify and apply molecular-based testing
• Knowledge and experience working within a veterinary diagnostic laboratory
• Proven ability to accurately and efficiently

Mandatory Qualification

A tertiary qualification in Applied Science or equivalent qualification or experience or at least three years relevant experience in a molecular or microbial diagnostic laboratory.
