The Opportunity:

Lancefield Equine Clinic is a boutique 100% Equine Clinic, with purpose-built hospital facilities and a small team dedicated to enjoying work while being committed to providing the highest standard in equine veterinary care and outstanding customer service. We are a practice that specialises in building long-term client relationships.

This role is ambulatory based, and we also have a purpose built fully equipped hospital, with digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood work machine and endoscopy to support you in the ambulatory work. On offer is also the ability to be involved with the in-house equine reproduction services, this work during the season includes thoroughbreds and sport horses, chilled and frozen AI, semen collection and neonatal medicine.

After hours practice on call is quiet and is shared equally, leaving plenty of time to enjoy a work life balance that we believe to be important. After hours work is shared equally between veterinarians, usually a 1:3 rota. We work as a team to make sure that our staff get weekends off and create a roster ahead of time that works for all team members.

Equine practitioners who are team players, largely self-sufficient and who are interested in settling into a growing business and beautiful area for the long term are encouraged to apply.

The Location:

The clinic is based in the gorgeous Macedon Ranges Shire, which is less than 70 kilometres from Melbourne, in Victoria.  The area is rich in horticulture, vineyards, hobby farms and horse sports. Enjoy life in picturesque surrounds, working in an equine paradise with clientele consisting of performance horses from a diverse range of equestrian sport, from racing, show jumping, dressage, eventing, reining, camp drafting to pleasure and trail. If you are a horse enthusiast yourself, this area is perfect to live and keep horses with an array of acreages, agistment properties and riding trails locally so you can continue to follow your equestrian pursuits.

For accommodation, there are rental properties to choose from – rent is from $195/week for a unit, around $330/week for a 3 bedroom home and if you want some space currently there is an acreage listed for 3 bedroom home on acreage that is $550/wk  which is also very convenient to the clinic! To get you started, we can also offer short term accommodation.

Lancefield is a small town and enjoys country-Australian hospitality and the benefit of getting to know the locals. Many leisure time opportunities exist including wineries, cafés, restaurants, farmers markets, sporting facilities, as well as several well regarded private and public schools. For the sporty there are local competitions in netball, football, cricket, golf, every equestrian you can think of, volley ball etc

The location is excellent in that you can attend the many veterinary continuing professional development (CPD) events on offer at Oaklands – only a 30-minute drive to keep current and catch up with colleagues. Plus it is only 50 minutes to Melbourne to get your fill of shopping and with easy access to the airport you can spend your weekends away as you choose to!

You are a team player who provides excellence in service and care to equine clients. You are a good communicator who asks for assistance when required and who can discuss difficult cases openly. You have confidence, enthusiasm and a sense of humour.  You are looking for a practice where you can settle in and enjoy life as a veterinarian for the long term.
