The Department wishes to appoint one or more Clinical Veterinarian(s) in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery. The positions will be available from 1st June 2022.

Small Animal Orthopaedics is a core discipline in the clinical veterinary curriculum and final year students rotate through this service as a core rotation in which skills must be assessed as part of the RCVS accredited programme. Small Animal Orthopaedics is deemed to be a key Day One Competency by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

This role will take overall responsibility for veterinary Orthopaedic teaching to clinical veterinary students. The major teaching contact relates to the clinical teaching of final (6th) year students during their clinical rotations. These final year students undertake a two-week clinical rotation in Orthopaedics in groups of around four students.

Role holders are expected and encouraged to contribute to current and future clinical research projects.

Candidates should either be an experienced practitioner and have RCVS Advanced Practitioner status, or have completed an approved Residency programme in Small Animal Surgery and have passed, or be eligible to sit, the certifying examination for either the European or American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
