The Role:

Deakin Research Integrity is part of Deakin Research responsible for the central administration of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and for required approval processes in relation to research or teaching involving animals, humans and genetically modified organisms, on behalf of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research).

The position forms one of the Animal Ethics team and reports to the Senior Animal Ethics Coordinator.

The incumbent will interact widely with staff and students in the Faculties and Institutes for the purpose of providing administrative support in relation to Animal Ethics applications and will work closely with the Senior Animal Ethics Coordinator, Animal Welfare Officer and Deakin University Animal Ethics Committees (AECs).

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively as a team member.
• Ability to work with sensitive and confidential matters.
• Computer literacy in multiple software applications, including Microsoft Office, databases, internet and email.

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

• Implement and monitor a wide range of administrative tasks to ensure the efficient administration of Animal Ethics at Deakin University.
• Provide secretariat support to the Deakin University Animal Ethics Committees (AECs) and assist in the organisation of meetings, agendas, minutes and correspondence to researchers.
• Maintain accurate records associated with Animal Ethics at Deakin University.
• Provide administrative support to the Senior Animal Ethics Coordinator and other members of the Research Integrity team as required.
• Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.
