Description

Allfarm Animal Health (www.allfarm.com.au) is a small privately owned business, and has been manufacturing animal health, rodent products and providing good personal and professional service to primary producers and  customers in Hastings and around Australia for years. Allfarm has a strong commercial poultry, small poultry, specialist bird and home flock focus, and supports a range of dairy and equine products.  Our services are backed by our own parasite diagnostic laboratory located in the same factory. There is a live insect growing facility in an adjacent building, which is currently expanding supplying a range of dried and live products.  Our GMP factory is licensed under Australian AgVet legislation to manufacture under the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). This underpins our strong commitment to quality. Allfarm manufacture on site our own products and for an expanding contract manufacturing operation. Our product range includes antibiotics, feed additives, drenches, rat poisons and vitamin supplements, peck blocks, skin treatment and conditioning products. Our company runs an on-line shop, which is serviced exclusively with our own badged products.

Available immediately, this position offers a guaranteed 3 days per week - which are not fixed - up to a maximum of a 9 day fortnight. This position would suit someone with a manufacturing background, or one in which a neat and tidy environment is essential and you have the ability to follow procedures, interact well with staff, and manage stock and paperwork. Our hours are determined by deliveries of raw ingredients, and so we need to be flexible. There is a casual work force to support this position, and so experience in staff control and training would be useful.

The primary job focus is assisting our manufacturing-based day to day operations. Our plant is a manual based operation - which is its strength.  Simple operations - mainly manual -  provide ability to manufacture a large range of products in a wide range of containers and packaging, ranging from a few grams to 20kg.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the aim is to quickly develop your skills to appreciate the full manufacturing role.  Duties which may be undertaken in any day include receiving samples and stock, packing products, making up orders, receiving raws inwards, assembling and wrapping products, filling - operating - mixing up to 700kg batches, stitching bags, assembling and wrapping pallets, labelling and sealing products, sorting stocks and labels and managing on-line e-post and transport arranging. Each of these activities is backed with a need for ongoing inventory control, which is currently managed through our MYOB systems. There is great variety in this position, and day to day planned activities are sometimes over turned by urgent orders.

On any one day there are 4 - 8 employees at Allfarm, including a veterinarian. The factory hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, with work outside these hours being unusual. The position joins a busy team of people. We like to ensure employees enjoy our work environment, as this is one in where communicaiton and staff relations are important. We are very committed to providing flexible work arrangements. You should appreciate there are times where we are very busy - requiring extra hours - and other times where its quiet.

This position suits a person who can offer or needs flexibility of hours, and enjoys working in a small team. Previous warehousing or processing - manufacturing experience, with computer skills, quality control or audit exposure, communication and planning skills -  will be a plus. A fork lift licence is prefereable but not a game changer, as we would assist. Skills dealing with customers, drivers, post, and stock control are all good skills we would like to hear about in your application.
