Description
Set in 25 hectares of lush and tranquil surroundings, Hamilton Zoo is home to more than 600 native and exotic animals.
We now have two exciting opportunities, one Zoo Keeper, Birds and Ectotherms and one Zoo Keeper, Carnivores!
If you love animals, this is a great opportunity for you to work across all zoo operations and primarily be responsible for the care and display of our animal exhibits.
To be successful, you will be a motivated team player with exceptional communication and collaboration skills that enable you to work seamlessly with others and support your team members.
You’ll need to have an understanding of modern zoo philosophies and be very safety conscious. The Zoo Keeper role offers a variety of mentally and physically demanding challenges, so being energetic and fit is important.
Previous experience in animal husbandry is a must with preference to Birds and Ectotherms or Carnivores. You should have an understanding of the zoo industry as well as a BScTech, Certificate in Animal Management (captive wild animals) or similar qualification or experience.
