Description

We are the leading animal welfare charity in Queensland, currently providing support to more than 47,000 a year.  As a non-government, community based charity, we enforce the Animal Care and Protection Act, educate the community on how to care for animals and pets, rehome displaced domestic pets, and rescue, triage and rehabilitate native wildlife patients in our Brisbane RSPCA Wildlife Hospital and Eumundi Rehabilitation Centre. As a community based charity RSPCA Qld relies on donations, bequests and sponsorships from ordinary Queenslanders, just like you.

In your day-to-day duties, you will work with a variety of exciting Australian species as a member of a fun and dynamic team. You will be provided with opportunities to further your professional development with regular onsite training and guidance from an experienced team of veterinary staff.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Being a part of a wonderful team of people committed to animal welfare;
  • Care for iconic native species including Koalas, lizards, bats and many more!
  • Assist the veterinarians in treating animals;
  • Perform routine medical and laboratory tests;
  • Participate in wider organisational events and projects (foster program, media & events);
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance duties;
  • Assist with emergency surgeries;
  • Work in a 24 hours hospital with rotating roster.

 

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or Australian recognised equivalent);
  • Previous surgical nursing and emergency and critical care experience with companion animals would be highly regarded;
  • The ability to work autonomously;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • An interest in native wildlife and animal welfare;
  • Previous native wildlife or emergency experience in highly regarded but not required.

We are hiring for multiple positions based at our RSPCA Wildlife Hospital in Wacol.

  • 1x Casual
  • 1x Permanent Part Time (min 16hrs)
  • 2x Part Time (min 16hrs) Parental Leave 12 month contracts

Working hours are across a 7-day roster, with weekend work and some night shifts required. Remuneration is as per the RSPCA Qld Enterprise Agreement for Veterinary Staff with a starting pay rate of $26.15 per hour (Certificate IV qualified or equivalent). Junior rates may apply.
