As we continue to welcome visitors to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and share our conservation story - we have an opportunity for a passionate, energetic, and experienced Part time Wildlife Officer to join our Mammal team and support our Wildlife department.
About the Role
Reporting to the Wildlife Manager, we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Wildlife Officer to join our Mammal team. This role will involve achieving a high level of mammal husbandry and having a keen eye for detail.
Duties for this role includes, but not limited to; mammal husbandry, health and welfare, exhibit maintenance, keeper talks, and other duties as required. The Wildlife team are seeking professional applicants who will be energetic and enthusiastic and will have a high level of mammal knowledge and skills.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a Certificate III Wildlife and exhibited animal care. In addition, you must be able to deliver high levels of customer service in an energetic, friendly, and professional manner within a busy team environment. Other key skills and qualifications we are looking for include:
- Wildlife handling, husbandry skills and previous experience as a Mammal Keeper is essential, with previous macropod experience highly regarded.
- Energetic and friendly personality and confidence with domestic and international visitors
- Be prepared to work in an outdoor environment, in all weathers, in a role that requires substantial walking in a workplace that contains animals including birds and reptiles.
- Ability to carry / support up to 10kg for a prolonged period.
- Hold a current Driver’s licence and current First Aid qualifications is highly desirable.
