Description
Birdworld Kuranda, a dynamic free-flight bird park located in the beautiful rainforest village of Kuranda in Far North Queensland, is currently seeking a positive, motivated person to fill a permanent, part-time keeping vacancy within our small team.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Daily husbandry for a variety of both native and exotic bird species.
- Observation and record keeping.
- Involvement in behavioural enrichment and conditioning.
- Involvement in bird handling and capture.
- Adhering to strict hygiene policies and procedures.
- Giving public presentations.
- Customer service.
Essential skills:
- Previous experience in a zoo environment (paid or voluntary)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A sound understanding of animal husbandry
- Excellent customer service skills
- Friendly and positive attitude
- Current driver’s license
Desirable skills:
- Relevant qualifications at a tertiary level (e.g. Cert III Captive Animals)
The role is three days a week (22.5 hours) and will be covered under the Amusement, Events, and Recreation Award (2020).
