Birdworld Kuranda, a dynamic free-flight bird park located in the beautiful rainforest village of Kuranda in Far North Queensland, is currently seeking a positive, motivated person to fill a permanent, part-time keeping vacancy within our small team.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Daily husbandry for a variety of both native and exotic bird species.
• Observation and record keeping.
• Involvement in behavioural enrichment and conditioning.
• Involvement in bird handling and capture.
• Adhering to strict hygiene policies and procedures.
• Giving public presentations.
• Customer service.

Essential skills:

• Previous experience in a zoo environment (paid or voluntary)
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A sound understanding of animal husbandry
• Excellent customer service skills
• Friendly and positive attitude
• Current driver’s license

Desirable skills:

• Relevant qualifications at a tertiary level (e.g. Cert III Captive Animals)

The role is three days a week (22.5 hours) and will be covered under the Amusement, Events, and Recreation Award (2020).
