Greyhound racing is an exciting career, past-time and interest for many thousands of people across the nation. Greyhound Racing SA Limited (GRSA) is the controlling body of the sport in South Australia, conducting, regulating and promoting the sport from our headquarters in Angle Park. GRSA’s primary responsibility to ensure the responsible and ethical management and participation in the sport through the effective enforcement of local and national rules and conducting race day operations. The sport is as popular as ever with our four tracks (Angle Park, Gawler, Mount Gambier and Murray Bridge) combining for over 400 meetings each year with feature events a highlight throughout the year.

A full-time opportunity is available for a Welfare Compliance Officer to join a small and motivated team. The position is available to start immediately.

You will play a pivotal role in assisting with the compliance of our industry and ensuring the welfare of the industry’s number one stakeholder – the greyhound.

 

Key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Conduct kennel and property inspections across the state on a daily basis to ensure industry and legislative requirements are met.
  • Liaise with industry stakeholders and provide support for participation.
  •  Respond to and investigate reports of complaints within the industry.
  • Develop educational tools and guidance in line with the Animal Welfare Policy

 

To be considered for this role you will preferably have:

  • An interest in a compliance or animal welfare role The ability to communicate with a wide range of people
  • A solution-focused mindset and the ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Resilience, a strong work ethic and ability to work in a small team
  • A strong data collation and reporting background
  • A current Police clearance completed within the last 3 months
  • A valid Australian driver’s licence is required
  • Also be physically fit

Good communication and time management skills as well as the ability to work as a part of a team is essential. There is a requirement for out of normal working hours availability, including weekends and evenings.
