About the role
The Bioproperties R&D team require a virologist to assist in the development of a research program which will establish next generation methodologies for viral vaccine production and quality testing. This full-time two-year contract position is based within the RMIT University campus at Bundoora, Victoria.
Skills & experience
To be successful in this role you will be a motivated and meticulous team player with the following attributes:
- University qualification (PhD) or extensive experience in a related field of science.
- Experience in a research laboratory with understanding of techniques including tissue culture (primary cell culture, plaque assays, genetic manipulation of cell lines including CRISPR), flow cytometry and molecular biology (qPCR testing, genome sequencing). Previous experience with bioinformatics and Herpesviruses will be advantageous.
- Experience in laboratory equipment use, maintenance and calibration.
- Experience in animal welfare, preferably with poultry experience.
- Flexible working hours – occasional work after hours and weekends is required.
