About This Opportunity
The Veterinary Technician works within a Clinical Studies Centre and assists in the co-ordination of the Teaching Laboratory. This includes providing operational/technical assistance and instructional support to undergraduate practical teaching and continuing education workshops and seminars.

About You
- Qualifications and training equivalent to a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training including a current open drivers licence
- Knowledge and experience in the low stress husbandry, handling, restraint and care of animals, especially dogs, cats, birds, horses, pigs and sheep
- Experience in working with and handling animals in a laboratory/technical field
- Knowledge and experience in companion animal behaviour and medical and surgical nursing, including anaesthesia and analgesia monitoring of patients.
- Knowledge of the relevant codes and acts governing the use of animals in research and teaching
- Computer literacy in software applications for word processing, databases, spreadsheets and email and the ability to keep accurate records.
- An affinity for, and experience in handling animals, with a commitment to animal welfare
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member and establish cooperative working relationships with colleagues, staff across the University, students and external clients
- High level of organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise competing work demands independently and an ability to initiate improvements in work practices
- Commitment to upholding the University’s values, and with the outstanding personal qualities of openness, respectfulness and integrity
What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to October 2023 at HEW Level 4.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $66,733.35 to $70,842.86 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $78,078.02 to $82,886.15 per annum.
