About the Role

Perform diagnostic medical testing procedures as outlined in methods and procedures manuals.

Record, report and interpret results of tests. Where directed, participate in research and development of new tests, implementation of new instrumentation and procedures or the revision of existing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient and prompt sorting, processing, and testing of specimens. Attend to the care, storage, processing, and disposal of pathology specimen
  • Maintain a high level of hygiene and anti-contamination. Responsible for interpreting and validating results associated with this testing.
  • Ensure all information is correct and promptly communicated.
  • Appropriate response to abnormal, urgent, or time-sensitive requests
  • Display a strong customer focused manner with both internal and external customers
  • Attend and participate in laboratory meetings and "in-house" education.
  • Participate in the laboratory shift roster, including evenings, nights, and weekends, covering areas where adequate training has been completed.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science or equivalent qualification recognised by professional bodies such as AIMS, ASM, AACB.
  • Ability to train other laboratory staff in standards, procedures, and protocols in practice in the laboratory through an understanding of the underlying principles involved as distinct from the practices.
  • Knowledge of the VADDS computer system is advantageous
  • You may be required to participate in the on-call roster as determined by the Company. "On-call' means that you must be always contactable by telephone during the on-call period and be available to attend to the laboratory in a timely manner after initial contact is made.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and plan work
