Be part of the Commission overseeing the integrity of Greyhound Racing in NSW and protecting and promoting the welfare of Greyhounds
Ongoing full-time role located in Sydney and/or surrounding regions.
Package includes salary ($138,596 - $141,313), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing regulatory veterinary services at greyhound race meetings at various locations in the Greater Sydney Region and also across NSW in accordance with the Greyhound Racing Act, 2017.
This role provides an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, capable, self-motivated professional, interested in making a contribution to greyhound health and welfare, and to work within a cohesive veterinary team of like-minded professionals who are always keen to share their experience.
This role requires veterinarians to work to a flexible shift roster, including evenings, weekends and some public holidays; and will involve travel to Greyhound racing tracks in the Greater Sydney Region with possible travel to other areas of NSW.
Work is by roster for 70 hours each fortnight. A work vehicle, phone and laptop are provided.
As a Veterinary Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Attending greyhound race meetings as the sole veterinarian on track
- Examining all greyhounds pre-race and providing expert advice to Stewards on whether greyhounds are physically suitable to compete in line with the Rules of Racing
- Examining greyhounds post-race at the request of Stewards and treating injured greyhounds post-race, consistent with GWIC guidelines and protocols
- Holding greyhounds’ welfare as the primary consideration in all decisions
- Collecting swabs for prohibited substance testing, kennel inspections and other related activities
- Contribute to the research, analysis and development of policies, procedures and education regarding greyhound health and welfare
To be successful you will have:
- A degree in Veterinary Science, from a recognised tertiary institution or the equivalent academic qualification, that meets the requirements for registration as a Veterinarian in NSW
- Clinical and/or racetrack experience with greyhounds is highly desirable, but not a pre-requisite
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour in challenging situations
- Ability to work as sole veterinarian

The current vacancy is in Sydney and the surrounding regions. The Commission is based in Bathurst.
