Description
Animal Dermatology Clinic is a specialist referral clinic that treats a wide range of animals from dogs, cats, and horses to the occasional zoo animal. We are a close-knit team who are dedicated to providing outstanding care and service across our two main clinics and seven other satellite locations. If you have a passion for animal welfare, client communication, relationship building, providing long-term care to patients and would also like to further your knowledge in dermatology, then we would love you to join our team.
Our clinics are part of a large group of dermatologists that includes ten full-time clinics in the United States plus additional clinics in Australia and here in New Zealand. We strive to be the leaders in our field; we participate in drug trial studies, dermatology resident training, and studies to advance the knowledge of our field.
The position is full-time (hours are negotiable but approximately 36 hours per week) and involve a mixture of reception/admin and clinical nursing.
The successful applicant must be:
- Dedicated to providing top quality care to our patients
- Flexible and able to work efficiently in busy, fast-paced environments
- Willing to travel to satellite locations including overnight stays
- Able to enjoy working closely with clients and forming strong relationships that provide long-term support
- The holder of a relevant Veterinary Nurse/Veterinary Technician qualification
Veterinary Nurse/Veterinary Technician Job Description:
- Process cytology slides and setting up on the microscope
- Administering therapeutics such as otic medications, Cytopoint, antibiotics, etc.
- Assisting with procedures such as biopsies, ear flushes, intradermal allergy testing, etc.
- Assisting to formulate immunotherapy recipes
- Immunotherapy induction consults with clients
- Setting up and assisting with video otoscopy
- Recording and storing video otoscopy footage as well as cleaning and re-packing of equipment
- General anesthesia and sedation monitoring
- Cleaning ears
- Filling medications
- Recalls/reminders for clients completed daily
- Booking and managing appointments (initial consults and rechecks)
- Completing insurance forms for clients
- Checking in patients (weight, general questionnaire)
- Assist veterinary specialist in consultation with patient and associated tasks
- Reviewing handouts from our veterinary specialist and treatment plan with clients
- Ability to travel to all satellite clinics if needed.
- Assisting with stock takes and keeping stock levels up to date
- General cleaning tasks
- General reception and admin duties, i.e. answering incoming calls and managing emails
- Other tasks as assigned by the practice manager
