We require someone organised, demonstrates high hygiene standards, learns quickly, has exceptional problem solving skills (this is not negotiable) as daily challenges will be faced and we strive to be an efficient unit.

 

The Role

  • Feeding, walking, medicating patients
  • Tending to patient IV Drip sets, comfort needs including heating and cooling
  • Monitoring patients under general anaesthesia
  • Precise record keeping including completion of check sheets
  • Administration tasks- phone answering, appointment bookings, customer sales and enquires about merchandise, patient check-ins.
  • Autoclaving of kits
  • Animal hygiene and practice hygiene- you need to possess high standards of cleanliness
  • Restocking
  • The role is predominately focuses on small animal care and care of animals within the clinic, however, occasional farm visits may occur with supervision.

 

About You

We want someone who can work independently and learn fast. This role suits someone ambitious wanting to further their career in this industry. While we don’t expect you to know everything we expect you can tend to animals, clean and complete simple tasks to a high standard without help.

  • Someone enrolled in Cert III Animal Studies or Cert IV Vet Nursing (Preferred)
  • Attitude is paramount! You should have a can-do attitude and superior problem solving skills
  • Resilient and receptive to feedback: we have high standards and want someone who can uphold them.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Focused on completing daily tasks to a high standard
  • Must be available for regular weekend work- 1 in 2 or 3 and this includes regular being on call
  • Excellent work ethic and reliability
  • Compassionate and caring and an eye for detail with patient monitoring and care
  • We expect you are already proficient in basic animal care e.g. walking dogs, ensuring cages are clean with water, litter trays cleaned regularly.

This is a paid position with the successful candidate to be paid award wages or above (subject to experience). We are more than happy to sign off on your placement hours allowing you to fulfil placement requirements, earn good money and get your foot in the door. However, this is not a shadowing role, as you are a paid employee you will be expected to work and be a valuable team member. Additional training will be conducted and you will have a lot of opportunity to learn the more technical aspects of the role, we don’t expect you to know everything however we expect you have common sense and the ability to complete simple tasks (cleaning, supervising animals, feeding) proficiently.
