Qualifications & experience
- We would prefer someone already enrolled in a Certificate 2 of animal studies or Cert 4 Veterinary Nursing or is willing to obtain these , who we can grow and develop within our practice OR someone qualified. We are also happy to teach you if you do not have experience, providing your willing to learn and are pretty good at retaining information- learning is a 2 way street.
- Experience working with animals is highly regarded, especially with dogs and cats.
- Excellent initiative and is proactive, and demonstrates superior time management & organisational and prioritization skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Focused on completing daily tasks to a high standard
- Must be available for regular weekend work- 1 in 2 or 3
- Excellent work ethic and reliability
- Compassionate and caring and an eye for detail with patient monitoring and care
- full time (preffered) or part time or casual (20-38) hours per week- what do you prefer?
Tasks & responsibilities
- Feeding, walking, medicating patients
- Tending to patient Iv Drip sets, comfort needs including heating and cooling
- Monitoring patients under general anaesthesia
- Precision record keeping including completion of check sheets
- Administration tasks- phone answering, appointment bookings, customer sales and enquires about merchandise, patient check-ins. Our nurses are to be ‘jack/ jill of all trades’- be able to help animals and clients.
- Autoclaving of kits
- Animal hygiene and practice hygiene- you need to possess high standards of cleanliness
- Restocking
- The role is predominately focuses on small animal care and care of animals within the clinic, however, occasional farm visits may occur with supervision.
