Description
DO YOU WANT A CHANGE?
New Zealand's only Veterinary Teaching Hospital has a Veterinary Nurse position available within the Companion Animal Hospital. At Masset Vets, you can gain valuable experience in a supportive environment and obtain considerable growth for your career.
We are seeking applications from either qualified veterinary nurses or veterinary technologists to work primarily in our Surgery service. The position is full time, ongoing and working as part of a rotating roster.
MASSEY OFFERS MORE THAN A SALARY AND HOLIDAYS
Massey prides itself on many joint initiatives (city-wide) that offer a range of products, services and perks to Massey staff which are free or at preferential discounts. The University also offers a substantial contribution toward superannuation.
The surgery service itself at Massey works out of a dedicated surgical suite and provides services to companion animals, equine and on occasion production animal and wildlife animals. You will be working alongside Veterinary professionals in New Zealand’s only veterinary teaching hospital facility.
Massey Vets provides 24/7 Emergency Critical care, along with Community Practice and Referral clinics. This leads to a both challenging and extremely rewarding work environment.
Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art, fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise. We are the only 24-hour pet emergency centre in the central North Island so at times we have a high caseload, and our patients require a very high level of nursing care.
ABOUT YOU:
The successful applicant will provide high-quality nursing care and technical support as part of a nursing team.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who possess excellent communication skills, are self-motivated, super organised and have a passion for education.
We are able to offer opportunities for development in other areas of the Companion Animal Hospital, meaning flexibility and willingness to work in other areas is a necessity.
As part of Massey Vets, you will be involved in the teaching of Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Bachelor of Veterinary Technology students.
You will be expected to work on a rostered basis between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm on either an early or late shift, including some after hours and on-call work. Your ability and willingness to work on-call for evenings, weekends and public holidays is essential.
MUST-HAVES:
- Veterinary Nursing Qualification, Diploma or above
- Minimum one years’ experience with veterinary surgery in companion animal veterinary practice, consideration will be given to new graduates of BVT or DVN programmes.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
- Natural empathy toward the cultural, emotional and physical state of our clients and patients alike
- A team player with a positive attitude
- A genuine interest in undergraduate education
- Be eligible to work in NZ
