If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital (SAH) as a Client Care Technician. As a Client Care Nurse, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the service level provided to our existing and potential clients. Your primary responsibilities will include patient care coordination, consult coordination, inventory control and supporting our veterinary clinicians and students. You will ensure smooth operations within the hospital while delivering outstanding customer service to our clients.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide skilful and professional support to a large team of veterinary staff, including veterinary specialists
  • Assess, monitor, treat and maintain excellent husbandry standards for patients in ICU, isolation and hospital wards
  • Liaise confidently and competently with a large team of veterinarians, veterinary specialists and support staff regarding patient treatment and care
  • Undertake correct care, cleaning and maintenance of technical and specialised instrumentation and equipment
  • Assist with radiography, Computer Tomography, Scintigraphy and M.R.I. procedures
  • Competently perform diagnostic clinical pathology techniques
  • Provide administrative support to all clinic staff as required and assist with reception duties as required in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Adhere to SOPs (standard operating procedures) for Nursing and contribute to review of SOPs.
  • Provide clinical training/teaching support for the School’s training/teaching of veterinary and veterinary technology students.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clinic clients, veterinary students, staff and other external clients, both by phone and in person.
  • Assist with management of pharmacy inventory, including stock levels, prices and stock take, using the practice management software
  • Use practice management software to support the efficient administration and business management requirements.

 

This is a full-time (100%), continuing position.

At HEW level 4, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $71,640.06 - $75,957.51, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $83,818.87 - $88,870.29 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

As a 24-hour operation, your take-home salary will be dependent on your specific roster, including loadings of 50% for weekend shifts, 25% for night shifts, and 15% for afternoon shifts.

Afternoon shifts are shifts commencing at or after midday and finishing at or before midnight, Night Shift are shifts extending beyond midnight and finishing at or before 6AM. About You

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and/or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, with a minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate veterinary students, fostering a collaborative learning environment within the hospital setting.
  • Ability to work flexibly across various shifts
  • Good written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to use these skills in managing professional & operational relationships with colleagues, clients, and students.
  • Knowledge of ethical requirements, principles, and practices relevant to all areas of veterinary nursing.
  • Knowledge and application of relevant policies and procedures applicable to employment, including workplace health and safety, employment equity and anti-discrimination.
  • An effective team player who maintains effective working relationships in a team. Environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the field of veterinary nursing and willingness to participate in other professional service activities e.g., VNCA, community organisations, RSPCA, PetPEP (AVA).

 

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
