The Australian Animal Protection Society are currently recruiting for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our team in Keysborough.

Our clinic serves both our shelter and the community through our outpatient clinic, caring for small animal and exotics (rabbits and guinea pigs).

Due to our ongoing growth, we are currently looking for an experienced Cert IV nurse. You will be comfortable working in a fast paced and busy clinic and surgery environment, as part of a team that strive for the highest quality care for each animal that comes through our doors. This position will suit a nurse that is also interested in further learning, growth and upskilling.

Our experienced nurses and vets are able to place IV catheters, perform venupuncture, intubate at time of induction, perform general and dental radiographs. Due to the shelter we also manage a number of interesting medical cases.

This position has the flexibility to work either Part-Time or Casual for the right candidate, with a choice of an 8 or 10 hour day.

Empathy, compassion and communication are the main characteristics you will need to excel in this job. Our vet team are a highly skilled group of professionals who love what they do and the animals they care for.

Working with an amazing team of like minded people under management that understands the pressure that veterinary industry faces.

 

Experience and skills required to succeed in this role:

  • Cert IV Veterinary Nursing – (Essential)
  • Must be competent monitoring anaesthetics due to high surgery workload
  • Experience in animal welfare/shelter nursing would be highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Previous nursing experience – 2+ years preferred
  • A positive attitude and the willingness to go the extra mile for your patients is a must
