Description

Want to use more of the skills you have trained in?

Want to be paid well for the skills that you bring?

What if you could have these things without sacrificing weekends or public holidays?

Hi I’m Dr Jasmine…

Two years ago I did a thing. I opened up a veterinary clinic on the north side of Canberra. I wanted to design the perfect clinic for me and fill it with staff who want the same thing.

Starting a clinic from nothing is scary but it comes with the advantage of being able to design the perfect workplace.

I’m talking Monday to Friday. No public holidays. No weekends. And NO exotics. (Sorry to the bird and bunny folks out there!)

Melba Veterinary Clinic is quite small but it has a lot of potential. The problem is that I’m a solo veterinarian and haven’t yet learnt how to be in two places at once.

That is why I need a permanent qualified veterinary nurse who can step up and be my right hand!

Let me paint you a picture…

I’m stuck in a very sad euthanasia appointment and the phone rings. It’s one of your favourite clients. Their brand-new Labrador puppy has just eaten a whole tray of Ferrero Rochers. Wrappers and all! You know what you’ve got to do. You tell them to come to the clinic straight away. You use a template to generate an estimate. You talk them through the process of emesis. You admit the dog to the hospital and within minutes there is chunder everywhere! I come out of my consultation to find chunks and charcoal abound.

If this situation brings a smile to your face then this is the job for you!

The fine print:

  • You will be joining a tight team of five.
  • You will be expected to perform anaesthetics and all the usual things expected of a level 3-4 Cert IV nurse.
  • You will receive an hourly rate of pay that matches your skills and the value that you bring (obviously above award).
  • You will be self-motivated because we don’t like riding people or micro-managing.
  • You will be able to perform nurse consultations, emergency triage, dental checks, post-surgical discharges… or willing to learn the ropes here.

So, if this sounds like somewhere you would love to further your career please send us a CV and a short note about why this role might be for you!
