About RSPCA WA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Western Australia (RSPCA WA) is the state's leading voice in animal welfare. On an average day, we employ around 80 staff and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty in our community.
About this opportunity
The RSPCA vet team is looking for an enthusiastic nurse to join our passionate team. The veterinary clinic based at the RSPCA WA in Malaga provides services for all animals that come into our care, which includes prosecution cases through our Inspectorate. The facilities are equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, surgivet monitor and REM blood machines. The role involves treating cats, dogs, pocket pets and some livestock. As we do not offer a veterinary service to the public, there is no reception work, but the role does still require liaison between departments and basic administration.
We are looking for an experienced and preferably already qualified veterinary nurse. We will also consider applications from nurses who have been working in a veterinary environment for a minimum of 2 years and are still completing their qualification. The candidate must have strong teamwork skills, be able to work unsupervised and does not require supervision from a veterinary surgeon for general nursing tasks. This role is currently permanent part-time but negotiable for the right candidate if the person is looking for full-time work. Our team is experienced, capable and great to work with.
Duties
- Efficiently complete general nursing tasks, including but not limited to: surgical procedures, imaging procedures, patient care, pathology, emergencies, and critical care patients.
- Provide general animal care, including: feeding, cleaning and exercising of animals using fear free handling.
- Assist with providing feedback/information to foster carers and new owners as required.
- Be willing to work with/handle a wide variety of animals.
- Able to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Work within OH&S and Company policies.
- Work in line with our organisational values and bring a positive attitude to work each day
Skills & experience
- Experience can include work experience/prac.
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent/or is currently studying.
- Registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board.
- Experience in fear free handling preferred.
