The Opportunity

IDEXX are currently seeking a full-time qualified and experienced Veterinary Laboratory Scientist to work within our Palmerston North Laboratory. Working as part of a team our Laboratory Scientists contribute to the delivery of a timely, effective and efficient diagnostic pathology services. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to specimen reception, routine diagnostic testing, quality control, general laboratory duties, instrument maintenance and general maintenance.

The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will ensure that IDEXX Reference Laboratories operate at the highest level of accuracy by performing, monitoring and acting upon quality control procedures – while monitoring, calibrating, and troubleshooting their performance, in compliance with IANZ and ISO accreditation/certification requirements at all times.

The Successful candidate will possess:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)
• Min 1-3 years’ experience within a lab setting – preferred but not essential.
• Experience working in Haematology and Chemistry department within a diagnostic laboratory is desirable.
• Experience within a core laboratory, with multi-discipline exposure –
•  preferred.
• PC & data entry skills are essential.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to policies and practices.
• Experience in operating efficiently and effectively to meet tight turnaround times in a commercial lab environment.
• A passion for providing exceptional customer service
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
