The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated Veterinary Laboratory Scientist to join the largest veterinary diagnostic lab in the Southern Hemisphere. You will work within our custom-designed diagnostic laboratory in Eight Mile Plains in a full-time permanent capacity. Working as a member of a multidisciplinary team, you – as the successful hire, will ensure the provision of high-quality, efficient, effective, and timely diagnostic testing services for the IDEXX Reference Laboratories. The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will apply professional knowledge in blood science investigations, exercising professional judgement in interpretation, verification, laboratory analyses, tests and validation of the results.

The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will ensure that IDEXX Reference Laboratories operate at the highest level of accuracy by performing, supervising, and acting upon quality control procedures – setting up instruments, and preparing, running, interpreting, and releasing results while troubleshooting their performance, in compliance with NATA and ISO accreditation/certification requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor of Medical Science/or equivalent degree.
• Experience working in Haematology, Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Urinalysis and Parasitology departments within a diagnostic laboratory.
• Understanding of IANZ and ISO 17025, 9001 standards
• Ability to work Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm and occasional weekends
• Experience in operating efficiently and effectively to meet tight turnaround times in a commercial lab environment
• Passion for providing exceptional customer service.
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
