Veterinary Associates Equine LP – Karaka is inviting applications for a full-time veterinary nursing position. This presents an excellent opportunity to collaborate with our committed team, including four veterinary specialists, eight field veterinarians, interns, nurses, and administrative staff, within a comprehensive equine ambulatory and referral practice.
As a member of our nursing team, your role will encompass hospital patient care, surgical nursing, with participation in an after-hours on-call rotation, ambulatory and clinic-based appointments. Our nurses engage in weekly rotations across various roles and responsibilities vary accordingly. Additionally, nurses are involved in both mucking out and feeding tasks.
A veterinary nurse qualification is not required, though preferred.
To excel in this position, a positive can-do attitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced dynamic environment are essential. Reliability and self-motivation are key, coupled with excellent horse handling skills, preferably with experience in working with racehorses and young stock.
Effective communication with both the team and clients is crucial, along with a dedication to delivering the highest standard of care for our patients. A sense of humour is also valued.
Hours of work will vary between 7am – 6pm, Monday through Friday and may include Saturday and/or Sunday shifts to suit the applicant.
Veterinary Associates Equine LP is an equine general and referral practice located in Karaka, New Zealand. The practice is heavily involved in all types of equine pursuits and has a large surgical, medical, and reproductive caseload, providing a variety of work.
Karaka is a lovely rural community located just thirty minutes from Auckland’s central business district.
