- Located on the Camperdown Campus at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UVTHS)

- Base Salary HEO2 $72,845 - $74,952 p.a (38 hours per week) + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for Veterinary Assistant to assist our nurses and veterinarians during treatments and with the daily care of hospital patients and boarders. They also carry out routine tasks to support the care of patients and boarders at the hospital.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- assist with overall care for animals and support veterinarians and nurses where required
- assist with animal handling during general treatments under direction of treating veterinarian or nurse
- support students with animal handling during rotations
- assist with the restocking and cleaning of consultation rooms and treatment areas
- provide support in responding to basic stakeholder enquiries, ensuring communication is clear and timely, and assist in maintaining up-to-date stakeholder records
- assist in compiling data for reports, ensuring the information aligns with university systems, and help the team adhere to basic compliance standards
- follow established health and safety guidelines, promptly report any hazards, and ensure personal workspace is maintained in a safe and orderly manner.
As well as providing gold standard patient care, UVTHS provides an invaluable teaching experience for our final year veterinary students and residents. You will work closely with Specialists, residents and interns in all fields.

About you

- a Certificate II in Animal Care and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environment
- the ability to communicate with the nurses and veterinarians
- demonstrated the ability to cope with general practice caseloads in a busy working environment
- demonstrated the ability to explain nursing procedures to colleagues
- relevant knowledge of animal care and handling.
