Description

Description

Due to the retirement of one of our senior vets after 18 years at Biobest, we have an exciting opportunity for a vet to join our friendly team at our Edinburgh Laboratory. This role will provide experience across the veterinary services provided by Biobest including reporting for cattle health scheme submissions and general clinical pathology.

The laboratory and office are situated on The Edinburgh Technopole near Penicuik; it is envisaged that the successful candidate will primarily be based in the office, although remote working can be accommodated. The current post is 0.8FTE (32 hours per week); full time or part time working can be accommodated for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

The job will primarily involve providing interpretation of farm animal diagnostic, clinical pathology and HiHealth Herdcare health scheme test results and advising vet and farmer clients. There is also the possibility to undertake line management responsibilities for suitably experienced applicants.

Qualifications

A self-starter with a positive and motivated attitude, you must have a veterinary degree and be a member of the RCVS. Ideally, as we are replacing an experienced member of the veterinary team,  you will also have experience in a veterinary investigation centre, farm animal clinical pathology and/or cattle health scheme work. Practitioners with farm animal experience and an interest in laboratory medicine will also be considered as training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Job Benefits

Biobest is committed to the career development of its employees and offer a competitive reward and benefits package, which includes 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, access to life and medical insurance policies, staff discount at VetPartners practices and a portal providing discounts to many online and high street retailers.
