Veterinarian
Winchelsea Veterinary Hospital is searching for a motivated, registered and experienced Veterinarian to join our mixed animal practice with a predominate percentage of small animal clients. This position offers a market leading remuneration package by negotiation and development opportunities for a Veterinarian with strong surgical and medicine skills and a drive to further develop their veterinary knowledge and technical skills.
Our Veterinary Hospital is located in the town of Winchelsea, within a growth corridor of the Surf Coast Shire. Nearby town commutes include 34 kms to Torquay, 46 kms to Lorne, 38 kms to Colac, 41 kms to Geelong, 86 kms to Ballarat, and 113 kms to Melbourne CBD.
About Winchelsea Veterinary Hospital:
Our practice has been operating for two years, and we are experiencing strong growth. We offer a range of services including complex soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopaedics, medicine and much more.
Currently, we have a 3-Vet team, with a 1:1.5 Vet to nurse ratio, plus 1 front of house staff member.
Equipment includes Ultrasound, Digital Radiography, Endoscopy, Idexx- Lasercyte and Catalyst Analysers, as well, the EzyVet database.
We occupy a modern building which includes a surgery theatre, two consult rooms, separate dog hospital room and a cat / small animal hospital room, a grooming room, spacious waiting areas, office area, reception area, product displays and 20 car spaces.
We have another Veterinary Clinic in the Dandenong area with similar facilities and we can provide support and learning opportunities at that clinic.
About the role, but not limited to:
- No On-Call or after-hours
- Call-outs during rostered hours only
- Full-time or flexible hours available
- 4-day work week (Mon to Fri) + 1/3 Saturday mornings
- Manages day to day veterinary services and staff
- Provides leadership and guidance to a highly skilled team of veterinary staff in the delivery of high-quality veterinary care
- Provides excellent veterinary services to patients and clients
- Contributes to the strategic direction and works towards hospital objectives
- Maintains accurate clinical and regulatory records and ensures prompt communication with clients
- Supports clinical governance, quality assurance and operational systems
- Collaborates with neighbouring veterinary providers
- Liaises with veterinary product and service suppliers
- Supervises veterinary students and nurses on placements
About you:
- You are passionate and driven to provide the best veterinary care to your patients.
- You have strong medical and surgical skills.
- Possess extensive experience practicing as a Veterinarian in a clinic or hospital environment, with the ability to conduct medical consultations and surgical procedures and provide detailed advice in areas of veterinary science and medicine.
- You are willing to complete training courses relative to yours and the needs of the practice.
You possess:
- Bachelor or higher degree of Veterinary Science / Medicine
- Current Victorian Veterinary Surgeon Registration
- Minimum 5 years relative work experience
- A drive to increase your veterinary knowledge and skills
- Radiation use licence and microchipping licence
- Victorian driver’s licence
- A current tetanus and Q fever vaccinations
- Evidence of at least 2 COVID-19 Vaccinations
