The Team Manager Establishment for Palmerston North is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor Predictive to join the team!

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

The purpose of this role within Verification Services (VS) is to provide a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who prides themselves in their ability to communicate and educate others.

The role is varied, and you will be expected to do the following

  • Communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete ante mortem inspections and understand post-mortem inspection
  • Maintain knowledge within the farming communities and be involved in on farm verification!
  • Provide certification for animal exports

 

Mō te peka - About the Branch

Reporting to the Team Manager Establishment Palmerston North, the role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.

The Palmerston North verification team stretches from Wellington in the south to Dannevirke in the east and Bulls in the west. It's a wonderful area for both city living and outdoor activities. Palmerston North itself is an educational hub which provides opportunities in itself.

Once trained you will assist in providing verification to one of the 7 plants in the team or further afield as well as contributing to the team's on farm verification tally. You will be expected to apply for secondments or permanent veterinary technical supervisor roles once trained and when these become available.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a New Zealand registered Veterinarian (Or be able to obtain registration with VCNZ)
  • Have verbal and written skills, and analytical reasoning skills
  • Demonstrate integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability, and openness
  • Have experience persuading and influencing, teamwork, planning and organising
  • Have computer literacy - can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.g. word-processing, excel, internet, email
  • It is advantageous if you have knowledge of HACCP/Quality Assurance in Food Safety however, this is included in your training.
