Description

VETERINARIAN - Experienced or Recent Graduate

If you’re an experienced Vet looking for a change, or a recent Graduate, (or will be graduating this year), we would love to hear from you.

We will provide plenty of opportunities for you to grow as a Vet with ongoing training and continuous learning.

What we offer:

  • Ongoing training and support,
  • You will be encouraged in your areas of special interest through CPD, Distance Education and daily rounds,
  • AVA and CVE memberships are paid for by the practice,
  • An exciting and varied caseload in a modern, progressive, and fully equipped hospital,
  • A generous salary commensurate with experience for the right candidate, including paid study leave,
  • A set rotating roster, including the occasional Saturday (we are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday 8.30am to 4.00pm)
  • Flexible to work full time or part time, we can work with you to identify a roster that will work,
  • No after hours as we have an onsite, independent Emergency service with whom we work very closely, meaning the hospital is open 24/7, 365 days a year,
  • The opportunity to build upon your small animal skills with our amazing clients,
  • Regular Vet and staff meetings,
  • We also have quiet office spaces and a library,
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate,
  • We offer a fun, family environment, weekly snacks/fruit, unlimited coffee/tea!
  • Free parking is also a bonus just a short walking distance from the practice and we don’t work Public Holidays or Sunday’s.
  • We also have a dedicated EAP service.

We are looking for someone with excellent teamwork and communication skills, who loves being in a fun team environment and has a desire to build long-term relationships with some of the best clients in Australia. We are also seeking someone who is willing to share their knowledge and learn from others.

A little more about us:

  • We actively promote preventative medicine, particularly in:
  • Animal behaviour (running 4-7 puppy classes per week),
  • Orthopaedics (PennHIP and JPS),
  • Nutrition and dental care, amongst other things.
  • We have a team of ultrasonographers, including two with high level training and experience, who receive referrals from other practices,
  • A busy in-house laboratory,
  • We do many interesting procedures and surgeries every day,
  • We refer to an excellent team of specialists within and outside Canberra and have both eye and dermatology specialists visiting on a regular basis.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Exceptional skills and an eye for detail as a Vet,
  • High emotional intelligence: Ability to self-manage in a fast-paced environment with the ability to be sensitive to an ill pet, as well as its concerned owner.
  • Excellent time management and ability to take initiative.
  • Mature and proactive approach to work and the interactions you have with clients and colleagues.
  • The knowledge, ability and confidence to handle many types of animals.
  • Willingness to make a long-term commitment to the role.
  • Strong administrative skills
