The Alfred Research Alliance (ARA) is a vibrant collaborative community in Melbourne, dedicated to excellence in medical research and education.  The precinct operates an Animal facility called AMREP AS Pty Ltd. Underpinning ARA’s animal research activity, is the ARA Animal Ethics Committee’s (AEC), an essential component that evaluates research activity and compliance to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ActAustralian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes and the Code of Practice for the Housing and Care of Laboratory Mice, Rats, Guinea pigs and Rabbits.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced self-motivated Veterinarian to manage and optimise health well-being and animal care. Develops policies, streamline processes, and drive best practice.

AMREP AS Pty Ltd. is currently seeking a facility Veterinarian support the research activities of the precinct.

 

The role consists of:

  • Management, review and implementation of health monitoring programs
  • Providing veterinary advice and support
  • Education and training of personnel
  • Clinical veterinary support, and

 

Assisting with:

  • AEC application/submissions for best practice
  • Development and review of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitoring, managing and reporting on animal health and welfare across the site to stakeholders, investigators, AEC, User committees and Board.

 

Particular consideration will be given to applicants who have a clinical background with veterinary experience and desirable in laboratory animal medicine.

To succeed in this position you will need to be focused, an enthusiastic team player with the ability to work independently, the ability to manage multiple tasks and self-motivated.  You must be keen and flexible to contribute as an integral part of an exciting and rapidly developing precinct.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
