ABOUT RSPCA NSW
The Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW is a not-for-profit organisation in Australia that cares for, treats, protects and rehomes animals across the state, providing a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. We run a number of shelters and veterinary hospitals dedicated to treating, rehabilitating and rehoming animals. With over 500 staff, RSPCA NSW is dedicated to working with the community to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Hunter Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinarian to join our hospital teams on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Managing Veterinarian, the Veterinarian will be responsible for ensuring that a high standard of animal care and customer service is provided in compliance with legal requirements.
The key accountabilities for this role are as follows:
- Conducting consultations with private patients in relation to general veterinary services
- Undertake surgical procedures
- Provide support to prospective animal adopters and RSPCA NSW Foster Carers
- Provide veterinary services to animals which are subject to cruelty allegations
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and staff members from various departments
- Assist with RSPCA programs when required
- Provide advice and guidance on a wide range of animal welfare matters to members of the public

ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications as Veterinary Surgeon (essential)
- Experience as a Veterinary Surgeon
- Registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW (advantageous)
- Highly developed skills, experience and knowledge in veterinary medicine
- Highly developed diagnostic and surgical ability
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated affinity with animals and a commitment to promoting animal welfare.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to be flexible and cope with change.
- Strong relationship management skills
