Endeavour Veterinary Ecology is offering a unique opportunity for a passionate and capable veterinarian to join our team and work with us to recover, manage and monitor wild koala populations in Queensland. The position has responsibility for ensuring the health and well-being of program koalas, including conducting comprehensive veterinary examinations of koalas under anaesthesia, collecting samples for diagnostic and research purposes, and treating sick or injured animals. Performing necropsy examinations to accurately determine the causes of mortality in the population and fitting telemetry devices to koalas are components of the role.

Endeavour Veterinary Ecology is a wildlife consultancy that provides specialised veterinary ecology and population management services. We pride ourselves on innovative and collaborative wildlife solutions, optimal ecological outcomes, and high standards of animal welfare.

To be successful with your application, you will have a demonstrated interest in wildlife conservation and fastidious attention to detail. We work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, so an easy-going nature, flexibility and excellent time management skills are also required.  Experience in koala or other Australian wildlife medicine is desirable, but recent graduates with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience and a record of academic excellence will also be considered.

This is a full-time position based primarily at our clinic in Toorbul (Moreton Bay region) and may include weekend work on a shared roster, and periodic work at other locations in Queensland. We offer a generous remuneration package, commensurate with experience, which will be negotiated with potential successful applicants.

Applicants must have the following:

  • Veterinary degree registrable in Queensland
  • Demonstrated passion for wildlife conservation and welfare
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience

  • Prior experience in wildlife medicine and management, including wildlife telemetry and GIS
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Competency in the use of computers and commonly used programs (Microsoft Office and Apple programs)
