About the role

Plasvacc is offering a unique opportunity for someone looking to increase their skills and knowledge in veterinary transfusion medicine, and be an integral part of the Plasvacc team. All training in GMP manufacture will be provided to equip you for this role. The nature of plasma collection and processing requires a very high level of attention to detail, a high level of care for donor animals, and a fastidious approach to the various steps involved and the overall workflow. The role at Plasvacc promotes work/life balance, at approximately 30 hours per week, over 4-5 days between Mondays and Fridays. Remuneration is negotiable based on experience.

 

Principal tasks

Includes but not limited to-

  • Monitoring anaesthetics and changing anaesthetic doses
  • General healthcare of all donor animals, including minor surgeries and medical workups
  • Development and oversight of treatment plans for donor animals
  • Routine dentals and advanced dental care of dogs
  • Provide training and direction to staff in areas of animal husbandry and care
  • Review and input to husbandry procedures and records
  • Assisting with clinical trials
  • Liaising with various regulatory bodies as required including Animal Ethics Committee, Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA), Department of Agriculture, and clients of Plasvacc
  • Provide technical support to staff and clients
  • Thorough and comprehensive record keeping and data entry

 

About you

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria-

  • A qualified veterinary surgeon with at least 3 years’ experience, ideally in mixed practice
  • Confident animal handling skills, including equine handling
  • The ability to take on a high level of responsibility
  • The ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Possess exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • A team player
  • The ability to follow strict protocols
  • Covid vaccinated
  • Hold a current, manual driver’s licence
