Description
Our Hunter Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced or recently graduated Veterinarian to join our hospital team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Managing Veterinarian, you will be responsible for ensuring that a high standard of animal care and customer service is provided in compliance with legal requirements. No experience in shelter medicine is necessary – we will teach you everything!
This is an excellent opportunity for veterinarians to explore opportunities in shelter medicine and animal welfare. Your development of special interests is not only supported, but also encouraged!
Salary is dependent on experience. In addition sponsorship may be offered, however it is dependent on experience.

About the Role
- Conducting consultations with private patients in relation to general veterinary services
- Undertake surgical procedures with assistance provided where required
- Provide support to prospective animal adopters and RSPCA NSW Foster Carers
- Provide veterinary services to animals which are subject to cruelty allegations
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and staff members from various departments
- Assist with RSPCA programs when required, including vaccination and desexing programs
- Provide advice and guidance on a wide range of animal welfare matters to members of the public
About you
- Tertiary qualifications as Veterinary Surgeon (essential)
- Experience as a Veterinary Surgeon, although new graduates are encouraged to apply!
- Registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW (advantageous)
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Commitment to promoting animal welfare
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills
- Strong work ethic and the ability to be flexible and cope with change
- Strong interpersonal skills
