About Us
The City of Whittlesea is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia. As a local government organisation, we play a pivotal role in the everyday lives of our community. Our vision is to make Whittlesea 2040: A Place For All by ensuring our residents can enjoy access to local services, facilities and infrastructure.

Our staff are passionate, skilled and diverse, providing a great environment to work in and succeed.

The Role
Make a difference in our community!  Are you tired of consults? Would you like to be working in a small clinic environment with companion animals galore? Have you tried Shelter medicine?

We are looking for an experienced veterinarian to join our organisation, full time, Monday – Friday, with a monthly rostered day off. This role will form part of the newly created team for the Epping Animal Welfare Facility.

This position will be sole charged and supported by two vet nurses and the team of animal attendants at the facility. The veterinarian will provide health checks and medical care for the animals in care at the facility, perform surgeries and provide advice to the Animal Attendants in regards to the animals health.

The veterinarian will also assist the Coordinator to ensure health management plans are developed and implemented, and facility practices meet industry standards on issues of infectious diseases, zoonoses, and biosecurity.

This position assists with ensuring that pets and people can live harmoniously and safely alongside each other, assisting the Coordinator with the welfare of the animals that are brought into the facility. The role also supports the delivery of a range of projects and programs that fall under the recently adopted Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025.

This would be an incredible opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who wants to make a difference in animal welfare and shelter care, who has a proven track record of being able to work independently and as part of a team, to join a diverse group of people who are passionate about animals.

About you
You want to make a difference in animal welfare, you enjoy working with a small team and are confident in sole charged surgeries. You have experience in shelter clinics and want to make a difference to the lives of the companion animals at Epping Animal Welfare Facility.

If this sounds like you, then you should definitely apply!
