Huon Aquaculture Group Ltd. produces around 36,000 tonnes of fresh Atlantic salmon and ocean trout annually and is recognised globally as being a premium producer of fresh and smoked salmon products.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Fish Health Manager, you will provide support in the management of fish health, welfare and biosecurity across Huon Aquaculture’s hatchery and marine farm sites.

As one of Huon Aquaculture’s veterinarians, you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Veterinary Health Plan. With a hands-on approach, you will also be responsible for field investigations, post-mortem analysis, disease diagnosis and management, proactive fish health monitoring and certification.

Based at our Hideaway Bay site in the picturesque Huon Valley, this position is a commutable distance to Hobart. Your field investigations will take you out into Storm Bay, the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Macquarie Harbour. You will also be required to travel to our land-based on-growing and hatchery sites, which span the state of Tasmania.

About you

It is an inherent requirement of this position that work be performed safely whilst upholding Huon’s Values. You will be a highly motivated person eager to learn and uphold Huon’s commitment to innovation and best practice. The appointed person must be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and be able to work flexibly in changing situations.

Successful applicants will hold a tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science and must be able to attain registration as a practicing Veterinarian in Tasmania.
