VETERINARIAN
The Key objectives of the position are:
- Monitor and control the health and nutritional requirements of the poultry and crocodile farm livestock.
- Identify, control and where possible eliminate diseases affecting livestock.
- Monitor the quality control procedures with the meat and flourmill processing areas to ensure the quality of product is maintained at all times.
- Liaison with Government agencies in relation to livestock management, animal product processing and quarantine issues.
- Align operational requirements with best practice globally.
The Role and Responsibilities are:
- Managing the health and nutritional requirements of livestock within the company
- Monitor the health of the livestock on the farms to minimise disease problems and to ensure that quality of meat produced is maintained.
- Implement (Management of master) production plans for the Farms in conjunction with production teams.
- Review and advice future plans on farm facilities and development proposals.
- Develop, implement and enforce quarantine and disease control procedures.
- Develop and maintain annual Biosecurity plans for all MHL sites.
- Develop and implement Annual Vaccination and Medication programs
- Complete autopsy’s, reports and recommendations for action and implementation.
- Manage and monitor inventory of all vaccines, Medications and other specific chemicals in conjunction with Farm teams and Procurement.
- Promote Safety 1st mindset with all teams and input to Farm Management Policies and procedures.
- Management of Annual performance objectives.
- Improving the overall Livestock Veterinarian programs and look for any possible innovations and cost improvement efficiencies to the process.
