The biggest property in the portfolio is Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and its well-known Wildlife Hospital.

The Wildlife Hospital seeks to provide gold standard care to injured native local fauna and sanctuary animals. We are on show to members of the public who can view our surgical theatre and treatment areas. The Vet Hospital team see in excess of 14,000 wildlife cases a year and we aim to treat, rehabilitate and release as many of those animals as we can as a free service to the community.

In addition, the hospital provides veterinary care to the Sanctuary animal collection and conducts world-leading research and conservation projects, often working collaboratively with high level partners. Position details

The Vet Hospital Department is seeking a Wildlife Veterinary Nurse Supervisor to provide support within the team in order to provide mentoring, coaching, and leadership to help deliver more efficient hospital operations.

In addition to daily Wildlife Hospital vet nursing duties this role will hold the responsibility for Supervision and coordination of daily duties for the Wildlife Hospital.

  • This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week across a 5-day roster.
  • Above award pay rate and conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreation Award 2010, with the pay grade dependent upon level of experience and qualifications.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Must hold Certificate 4 of Veterinary Nursing or equivalent recognised qualification.
  2. Preferred understanding, knowledge and practical clinical nursing skills of zoo, exotic and native wildlife species.
  3. 3 years’ post qualification experience in the Veterinary industry
  4. Veterinary practice management experience is highly favourable
  5. Must be an approachable team player and team leader who can demonstrate a highly flexible, positive attitude – calm, and level-headed with the ability to trouble shoot as required for the role.
  6. Can demonstrate leadership ability and provide performance support, mentoring and coaching to the Vet Nursing team.
  7. Has very high level of time management and organisational skills with a genuine ability to multitask.
  8. Professional approach to duties, high standard of personal presentation and an excellent role model.
  9. Must have very capable computer skills and strong work allocation and time management skills.
  10. Can liaise and communicate in a friendly and effective manner with all key contacts including internal department staff, volunteers, external local community groups and associated veterinary contacts
  11. A knowledge, interest and understanding of the key elements of Currumbin Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is essential.
