About the opportunity
Due to the continued growth of the business, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vertebrate Pest Field Technician to provide vertebrate pest and wildlife management within the South East Queensland team. A position is available for placement on projects in SEQ, northern NSW and with the opportunity for occasional away work.
The person we seek should have experience in vertebrate pest management programs and techniques with a previous experience conducting dog trapping and the use of firearms in the workplace.
The successful applicant will be provided internal training and be fully supported by technical staff and resources.
In this role you will perform, but not be limited to the following:
- Feral animal management, including dog trapping
- Capturing, relocating and/or euthanising animals
- Breeding/habitat assessment and management
- Wildlife monitoring
- Data collection and management
- Developing wildlife management strategies
- Client liaison and relationship building
- Meeting and contributing to high company ethics and safety standards
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a range of invasive animal management techniques
- Experienced in lethal and non-lethal control programs
- Demonstrated experience trapping animals
- Demonstrated experience utilising firearms in the workplace
- Experience with handling wildlife
- Experience with native wildlife management
- Sound animal behavioural knowledge
- A self-starter, reliable and highly motivated
- Ability to work unsupervised
Skills and experience
The following formal qualifications that will be highly regarded:
- AQF3 chemical accreditation
- Vertebrate pesticide training
- Four-wheel driving training
- Current firearms licence (Cat. A & B minimum)
