Unestablished Clinical Veterinarian in Clinical Pathology (Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 22 months in the first instance.
Applications are invited for an experienced Veterinary Clinical Pathologist to join the diagnostic laboratory service of the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital from 1 January 2021. The person appointed will be a key player in the provision of clinical pathology services to the Department of Veterinary Medicine, its associated clinics, and external clients. The role also encompasses participation in the practical instruction of veterinary students, and the training of the Senior Clinical Training Scholars. Participation in clinical research will also be encouraged.
The successful applicant will benefit from the wide-ranging facilities within the Department, including a strong team of support staff.
Applicants should hold Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or a veterinary degree conferring eligibility for membership; and should have a Diploma of the American or European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology, or have completed an approved training programme conferring eligibility to sit the Diploma examinations.
The following are essential: extensive experience (including residency training) in diagnostic clinical pathology with all the common domestic species; proven ability to provide an accurate and timely clinical pathology service; an understanding of the requirements of animal hospital work; excellent organisational skills; ability to organise own time and workload.
The following are desirable: experience in managing the day-to-day running of a clinical pathology service and staff (including QC/QA procedures); experience in clinical pathology of laboratory animal species; some clinical veterinary undergraduate teaching experience.
