Vets on Riverbank is a mixed animal practice in Otaki with a long-established client base from Foxton to Wellington.  We service all creatures great and small from rabbits to horses.  We operate a large clinic split into a small animal hospital, surgery, reception and shop.  We offer a high level of customer service and have great pride in our involvement with the local community. Otaki is a close knit semi-rural beach town and is known for its sunny weather.

We have two exciting job opportunities available right now:

1. Companion Animal Veterinary Nurse:

We are looking for a companion animal nurse to work alongside five vets and ten experienced veterinary nurses.

This is a permanent full-time position for which we offer a competitive remuneration and staff discounts. Part-time may be considered for a suitable applicant. The role includes weekdays from 8am - 5pm, as well as some after hours and weekend work which is shared equally amongst the nurses.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• To hold a veterinary nursing qualification.
• Confidence in anaesthesia, and surgical/medical nursing.
• A capable understanding of animal handling, welfare, and nutrition.
• Great communication and the ability to work within a team but also show confidence working unassisted.
• A high level of customer service and compassionate attitude.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

2. Veterinary Receptionist

We are seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Receptionist to join our friendly team. The role is a combination of customer service, reception duties, answering phones and administration tasks.

The position can be either part time: 8am – 1pm; or full time: Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm, plus approximately one in every nine Saturday mornings. We offer a competitive remunerative rate.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

• Experience working in a veterinary clinic preferred, but not necessary and/or a veterinary nursing or veterinary nursing assistant qualification will be strongly preferred.
• A high level of customer service and communication skills, organisation, and a compassionate attitude.
• A capable understanding of correct animal handling procedures, as well as being confident to provide advice to clients on animal health, nutrition and products.
• The ability to work within a team but also show confidence working unassisted.
• The ability to perform administration tasks.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
