Description

Are you a motivated and enthusiastic Tutor with strong Animal Services experience? We are seeking a Tutor to join the Animal Studies team at TAFE Queensland East Coast.

Opportunity for a part time tutor (0.3) position has become available at our Bundaberg campus. This position will be temporary until October 2022 and will report to the Educational Operations Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a TAFE Queensland East Coast Tutor you will –

  • Provide support to students through conducting tutorial activities in a range of learning environments, including classroom, workplace, simulated and online to review and re-in force previously instructed learning content.
  • Facilitate learner skill development, provide support and guidance under direction and provide feedback.
  • Supervise support and/or contribute to the collection of assessment evidence, and undertake compliance and quality assurance activities as required.
  • Provide support to students in assessment processes and where academic progression intervention is required, as directed.
  • Meet with teachers on a regular basis to discuss individual student needs and issues, learning activities and subject-matter content.
  • Monitor student participation and engagement in tutorial activities and provide regular feedback to teachers.
  • Provide tutorial assistance, guidance and subject-matter advice to students and invite regular feedback from students.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure students adopt and practise acceptable safety procedures and sustainability at all times.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, development and review of educational programs and learning content as part of an educational team.
  • Provide advice on industry trends and training practices.
  • Co-ordinate, maintain and store required documents and records as per team requirements.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland’s quality assurance processes by adhering  to the implementation of quality systems,  processes and documentation.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on Our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.

 

How will you be assessed

  1. Possess industry-specific skills and knowledge relevant to the course/program for which tutorial support is being provided.
  2. Possess ability to contribute to course planning, development and assessment through participation and contribution within a team focused on student learning and skill development.
  3. Demonstrate capacity for self-management, participative decision-making, team participation and the ability to accept, promote and manage change.
  4. Demonstrate capacity to strengthen the links between industry, community, education and other providers of education and training.
  5. Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on student engagement, applied and active learning, instructional skills, current and emerging technology, maintaining and updating skills and contemporary industry practices.
  6. Possess ability to demonstrate instructional effectiveness including knowledge of contemporary industry practice, content knowledge, quality student interaction, technical applications, and ability to impart knowledge of accepted safety practices.

Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;

MANDATORY Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Animal Studies or above.
  • 5 years industry experience
  • Possession of TAE40116 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or
  • TAESS0015 Enterprise Trainer and Assessor Skill Set; and
  • TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills.
