ABOUT THE ROLE

AHA is seeking a Training Officer to join the Training Team within the Emergency Preparedness, Animal Health and Biosecurity program area on a full-time basis. The Training Team provides education and training services to assist AHA members with their responsibilities in the event of an emergency animal disease (EAD) outbreak.

The Training Officer will work with leaders and colleagues as a member of a small team to support the delivery of activities such as planning; budgeting; reviewing policies, procedures and reports; stakeholder engagement; and generating impact by supporting the design and implementation of training projects and activities. The successful candidate will play an integral part of a dynamic and energetic team, working under the direction of the Training Manager.

 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting the development, delivery, administration and maintenance of Emergency Animal Disease and Biosecurity Training project activities.
  • Working collaboratively and innovatively with internal and external stakeholders on a range of training projects.
  • Communicating and liaising with our stakeholders which include government departments, livestock industries and training professionals.
  • Demonstrating AHA values in their daily approach to work and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Total remuneration for this position is from $70,000+ (including super) and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of experience.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • A minimum 12 months demonstrated experience in training project support and administration.
  • Creative and independent thinker with the ability and confidence to propose solutions to complex issues.
  • Sound interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound planning skills and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with leaders and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work both under instruction and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks with members and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to adapt to, and promote, change.
  • Commitment to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, contemporary office software applications, internet communication tools and database administration.

 

Desirable 

  • Experience in a facilitation role including knowledge of instructional design.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to show initiative, flexibility, and work on multiple priorities in parallel to meet varying deadlines.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on budgets.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of animal health and/or biosecurity.
  • Experience coordinating eLearning programs.
  • Experience coordinating training in Microsoft Teams.
