Core Animal Services operates 7 days per week and the incumbent is expected to contribute to overtime work on weekends and public holidays as required.

 

The candidate will be responsible for:

The role of Trainee Animal Technician involves all aspects of animal management. In particular, the breeding of transgenic mice to meet the requirements of multiple research groups, adherence to ethical guidelines and assisting with shared duties within the breeding facility.

This position is a permanent full-time role, performed onsite at our Parkville facilities. The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Increment Level 3 (HEW3-1) $55,577 to Increment Level 3 (HEW3-6) $61,361, commensurate with experience.

About you:

Required skills and experience:

  • Currently attending or completed relevant course in animal care, Diploma of Animal technology or equivalent
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent data management skills.
  • Maintain the highest standards of Animal welfare
  • Attention to detail with good observational skills
  • Excellent time management and effective communicator
  • Basic animal husbandry skills, training to competency in all techniques required will be provided.
  • Punctual, reliable and keen to learn
