Job description:

The Position

This position is a permanent, full-time role based in the field and will report directly to the National Sales Manager. We are open to considering candidates coming from Melbourne, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.

The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing sales and growing the market share of Boehringer Ingelheim's market-leading swine portfolio to external customers by technically supporting and implementing strategies for illness and pain prevention through successful customer management and on-farm assistance within the assigned geographical territory.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Effectively plan, manage, and monitor territory sales and expenditure budgets.
  • Conduct customer visits, build, and maintain constructive business relationships.
  • Perform on-farm audits and hands-on training in intensive and free-range pig production systems.
  • Promote the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health product range to customers using technical information, promotional material, and marketing campaigns.
  • Negotiate and gain customer commitment to product orders.
  • Engage with current and potential customers at conferences and events.
  • Engage with current and potential customers at conferences, trade fairs, symposiums, exhibitions, and other customer meetings.
  • Develop territory management plans that identify key customers, ensure technical and marketing campaigns are well executed, and optimise coverage and penetration of the market.
  • Build relationships and influence wholesalers, distributors, and their representatives to maximize product referrals and promotion.
  • Plan, coordinate, and generate realistic, innovative, and beneficial local activities and events.
  • Be a team player. Collaborative, respectful, innovative, and passionate.

Desirable and Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications equivalent to a university degree or diploma in agriculture, science, or rural studies and/or relevant commercial experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with livestock, especially the pig industry or account management
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to effectively communicate technical information
  • Effective planning and organizational skills to manage your own geographical territory.
  • Effective selling skills with good negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Self-motivated with business acumen to achieve financial and operational objectives.
