THE POSITION

Increase sales and grow market share through representing and promoting the company and its animal health products to external customers and through overall successful customer management of the North & North/West Sydney and a regional territory. Travel to the regional territory would be required every 4 to 6 weeks.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Accountability:

  • Effectively plan, manage, and monitor territory sales and expenditure budgets.
  • Conduct customer visits, build and maintain constructive business relationships.
  • Promote the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health product range using technical information, promotional material, and marketing campaigns to customers in an honest and ethical manner.
  • Negotiate and gain customer commitment to product orders.
  • Attend to adverse events, enquiries and issues or ensure that they are attended to by appropriate persons.
  • Maintain the Veeva CRM system to a high standard ensuring customer records are accurate and customer interactions are accurately recorded.
  • Accurately complete administrative requirements in a timely manner.
  • Identify own development needs by understanding weaknesses, strengths, and alternative methods or behaviors.
  • Promote BIAH as the leading animal health business by all activities, including personal appearance, conduct and ethics. Understand and comply with all company policies and legal rules and regulations.

Agility:

  • Engage with current and potential customers at conferences, trade fairs, symposiums, exhibitions, and other customer meetings.
  • Develop territory management plans that identify key customers; ensure technical and marketing campaigns are well executed; & which optimize coverage and penetration of the market.
  • Manage multiple priorities and adopt a sequential approach to customers that always moves the customer along the sales process.
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles, communication, and business skills to influence key decision makers at each account.
  • Review and understand new or updated product-related information.
  • Support, share, communicate and work with team members to improve individual and team sales effectiveness.

Intrapreneurship:

  • Build relationships and influence with wholesalers/distributors and their representatives to maximize product referrals and promotion.
  • Plan, coordinate and generate realistic, innovative, beneficial local activities / events.
  • Communicate both an in-depth technical knowledge of relevant categories as well as sound business reasoning, to improve BIAH competitive position within each outlet.
  • Gather relevant information to identify individual and organizational issues; formulate actions based on analysis of all available data recognizing risks, resources, and consequences.
  • Understand and dissect customer prescribing patterns and reasons for patterns. Develop plans to improve customer prescribing behaviors that will result in increased sales.
  • Contribute to business planning cycle by effective participation in regular meetings, sales conferences, cycle meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective selling skills with good negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • The ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Self-motivated with business acumen to achieve financial objectives and operations objectives.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills to manage your own geographical territory.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of Animal Health regulatory and reporting systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine / Animal Health / Business is highly regarded.
