The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in small animal internal medicine with a focus on gastroenterology on an 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date in Fall 2024.

The successful candidate will devote 25% of his or her time to the Gastrointestinal Laboratory, providing phone and e-mail consultations on complex gastrointestinal conditions for 12-14 weeks of the year and sharing oversight of our clinical service offerings. The successful candidate will devote up to 30% of his or her time to patient care and/or diagnostic service duties in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). Small animal clinical duties will be shared with other veterinary internists and internal medicine residents. Clinical responsibilities will include clinical coverage for referred patients, consultation, and emergency back-up and rotating emergency coverage. The remaining time will be devoted to scholarship in small animal and comparative gastroenterology (25%), clinical and didactic teaching (10%), and service (10%). Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist throughout the College and University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with more than 45 small animal faculty members, 30 large animal faculty members, and 56 interns and residents in the VMTH.

The Gastrointestinal Laboratory is a state-of-the-art research and service laboratory, which offers a wide variety of research tools (e.g., automated immunoanalyzers, protein purifiers, GC/MS, cell culture, PCR and rTPCR, and a full histopathology suite). The veterinary teaching hospital is a spacious facility with sophisticated diagnostic and patient care equipment.

Qualifications
Each applicant must have a DVM degree (or equivalent) and must be a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM) or must have recently completed an ACVIM or ECVIM approved residency. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for regular or special licenses to practice veterinary medicine in Texas, and must have a track record in small animal gastroenterology.
