Our Veterinary team use their scientific background to provide technical expertise and education to our customers, sales and marketing teams. With a deep knowledge of pharmacology and animal health we engage scientific exchange with external experts and industry leaders ensuring the scientific value of our animal health portfolio is understood.
The Technical Advisor – Livestock is a field-based role and has responsibility for a set of products in a defined geography in NZ and is responsible for providing technical information to veterinarians and end-users to support the NZ business.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
- Providing technical assessment of key competitor brands, providing details about the benefits of our Companies products
- Ensure excellent and timely technical support and training is provided to the sales team, ensuring the technical proficiency of the team and assisting in the achievement of sales targets
- Identify particular areas where knowledge gaps exist within the sales team and ensure these are addressed and remedied effectively
- Work with local Territory Managers to identify market requirements and opportunities, developing and implementing plans and strategies to address these needs throughout the region
- Provide advice to farmers, resellers and veterinarians on the correct use of our Animal Health’s products
- Provide or source information to response to technical enquiries regarding products
- Provide technical writing – including articles for peer reviewed journals, technical bulletins, summaries of current research and magazine articles
- Maintain knowledge in areas associated with the product range and technical developments in veterinary medicine and farming practice
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all staff, veterinarians, distributors and end users
- Keep abreast of competitor technical developments and new products, advising the Technical Manager where there is a potential impact to the business
- Assist Regulatory by leading the investigation and resolution of adverse events and completing PV case management as per business policy.
- Accompany the sales team on visits to veterinarians, resellers and farmers
- Provide product, disease complexes and production systems on-the-job training to the sales team, marketing team and customer service team as required
- Design and implement marketing trials to support commercially available products; collate and analyse data and prepare trial report; arrange publication where appropriate in coordination with R&D
- Provide practical technical assistance to Research & Development projects including identification of field support opportunities, innovative updates, participating in development programmes, regulatory requirements & technical evaluations of new and existing products, including innovation
- Assist with the design, planning, implementation of market support field studies including the writing of study reports and articles for scientific publication.
- Establish and maintain close liaison with key influencers, including practicing veterinarians, internal and external research groups, key MPI personnel, distributors and end users
- Provide technical input, feedback and identify opportunities in response to product complaints and adverse drug reactions
- Support, maintain and develop material such as product technical manuals & training modules
- Hold a national industry leadership role in applicable technical or associated professional organisations, including presenting at educational forums
- Ensure all business activity complies with all relevant Acts, policies and procedures
What You Must Have
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science, essential
- Solid number of years’ experience in the livestock veterinary industry essential, preferably in New Zealand
- High level of comfort and knowledge of on-farm animal health management solutions
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills
- Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Role will require approximately 60% travel (Ideally, you will be based in the mid/lower North Island region)
